Bilal often creates art which, even without conscious decision, questions the world and his/humanity’s place within it. Some themes touched upon in his works are identity, nature, religion, culture and academia, explored through text, drawing, film and live performance.
‘I desire for the audience to use my body and mind and hence the work I make as a portal to connect to issues that affect me in their own way’.
In his works Bilal stimulates the senses to build said portal for the viewer, which might evoke new thoughts and feelings that would not have been there prior to entry.
