Artist Bio
Maedb Joy is an artist making political work across poetry and theatre often exploring class, sex work and womanhood. She was recently awarded ‘Writer of the Year’ by the Sexual Freedom Awards. Her credits include Vault Festival, Mighty Hoopla, Camden People’s Theatre, ICA, BBC, Royal Court Writers Group, The Barbican, Polyester Zine and more. Maedb trained at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating with a First and a nomination for the Evening Standard Future Theatre Fund.

She is also the founder and and artistic director of Sexquisite Events, a performing arts company platforming sex worker artists across theatre, cabaret and nightlife across the UK. She is also the co-founder of Riot Party, a sex positive queer community producing sold out events in London and Manchester. Both organisations are committed to creating paid creative opportunities for sex workers, and impacting meaningful change through art and entertainment.
